The 2014 Fresno State Football depth chart has been released and the word ‘or’ appears ten times.
As the Bulldogs prepare to face the 15th ranked USC Trojans on Saturday, there are still a few positions that have yet to be solidified.
The most glaring indecision appears first on the depth chart as it reads Brian Burrell or Brandon Connette at quarterback.
At running back, the Bulldogs will start Josh Quezada or Marteze Waller. The two combined for 1,453 yards rushing with and 13 touchdowns. The two ball carries earned a combined 5.2 yards per carry as well.
The rest of the depth chart questions are due to battles for spots and injuries at a few different defensive positions.
At nose guard it will be Tyler Davison or Maurice Poyadue. It has yet to be determined which player will start at end and which will start at nose guard. If Davison starts at nose tackle, then redshirt freshman Nate Madsen will start at the end position on the opposite side of Todd Hunt. Poyadue will start at the nose if Davison starts at the end.
The Bulldogs secondary is still in flux due to injuries keeping the coaches from making a final decision. Charles Washington will start at cornerback or strong safety. Safety is his natural position but he could see substantial playing time at corner. Washington played cornerback in the Mountain West Championship game and The Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl in 2013.
The depth chart at strong safety lists Washington or Dalen Jones. One cornerback spot reads Washington or Curtis Riley or Jamal Ellis, while the opposite corner has Bryan Harper or Corey Ferguson or Stratton Brown listed as possible starters.
The holder position has not been determined yet. This job will go to punter Garre
tt Swanson or Connette.
